A characterful primitive rice picking stool.
Chinese c.1940’s.
These stools were used in the paddy field for picking rice; the unique shape allowed the worker not to sink into the mud whilst carry out their day to day tasks.
Constructed from Elm & pinned together, over the years these stools have developed the most amazing patina.
